To say I am in better shape is an understatement. I not only look and feel better, Marie has got my body tuned to a point where my muscles burn fat at such a high rate all day long that I scarcely consider calorie intake. I work out less often per week than I have in years, yet weigh less than I did in college. When I met Marie, I was working out four to five days a week. I did grueling spin classes twice a week and often an additional day of cardio. I also spent two days per week on an all over body work out. I had a pretty comprehensive one hour routine – front, top, back of shoulders, chest press and flies – both flat and on an incline, upper and lower back, upper and lower abs plus obloquies… I don’t think I missed anything. I had taken occasional training sessions and considered myself to be reasonably knowledgeable. I was diligent for several years without any noticeable progress. I felt like people must have thought, “She should look better for as hard as
she works out.” I just figured I was battling age, having had three kids and the fact that I enjoy good food and wine with friends and family on the weekends. Either way, like most women, I wasn’t happy with my body.
I remember weighing 118 in college. I have curves and was pretty fit, so that was very small for me. In general, I have always struggled with my weight. My goal weight in recent years after kids has been 125. Last May I began working out with Marie.
I remember telling her, “Anything less than 125 is unrealistic. I will have to fight too hard to maintain it. I look good and I am thin at 125.” At the time I weighed 135 lbs.
